At the Phillips Collection

Hello everyone,

Been some time and I wanted to post only the most interesting things going on lately. So this past month I was lucky enough to have my photograph “The Purification of Summer” featured at The Phillips Collection as a part of 2016 James McLaughlin Memorial Staff Show.

The James McLaughlin Memorial Sta Show honors the memory of
James McLaughlin (1909–82), an accomplished still life painter. In 1932,
McLaughlin began his association with founder Duncan Phillips as a
painting student at the Phillips Gallery Art School. Until his death in 1982,
McLaughlin played an active role in the museum’s activities as a curator
who hired art students as museum guards. The Phillips Collection has held
an annual sta show for the past 30 years to feature the works of artists
employed at the museum.

I also did a short speech on my work on the video below.

As We Crown Blaq Excellence

One of the first major shoots this year was shooting and preparing new fresh imagery for the musical group Blaq Crown Entertainment. The main theme was to keep it regal and “Empire” inspired (if you see the promotional images for the TV show, thats the resemblence.)

After shooting main lineups, I wanted to do one black and white portrait style image for the CEO Devin White with a white florescent key light setup to keep it to a soften classic feel, and eventually ended up shooting all the musicians the same way as well.

Another for the Trophy Case.

On December 13th 2015, I was award Photographer of the Year at the 2015 Titan Arts Awards in Maryland.

The Titan Arts Awards is a local independent award show pushing recognition to young up-and-coming artists in the District, Maryland and Virginia area. Nominations are built on the fan base built by fans and local supporters for certain acts to be acknowledged in the respective fields of work.

I was up against some very talented photographers and was honored to gain the recognition. Thank you to everyone who voted and we will see if I’m back up there next year.

Devin White: Live On Tour Summer 2015

Hello world,

I know it’s been sometime since the last post, but I wanted to make sure every blog post comes with a great set of images.

Over the months of May - August 2015, I have been working with singer/songwriter Devin White and Blaq Crown Entertainment shooting set performances and promotional stuff all in between. In May and June, we were performing in places all over the DMV and having the music featured on WPGC 95.5FM. And July into the last week of August, we went to various performances out of town like Ohio, New York and Baltimore.

Here’s a few performances for the various shows and some never before seen ones.

Pop. A Photo Series.

Hello art world,

This past week, I got the chance to work with model Denise Evans just in time for her major trip to California for modeling. I reached out to her since it had been a little over a year since we shot together. and wanted to at least try something light concepts out.

Something that definitely stuck was shooting with a over headset I had for sometime and the 90’s color pop effects came afterwards while looking through the images as a subtle little add-in and to give the images a bit more life but never overtake the viewers attention away from the model.

A Little Fun Fact: this shoot was not done in a photo studio, but instead the model’s apartment. With the right lighting equipment and a solid color wall, whatever concepts you think of can be achieved.

Let me know what you think in the comments below, and anything you’d like the see me try next.
